Yesterday, we launched our 2016 autumn/winter collection with a breakfast that encapsulated our brand and the new-season designs perfectly. Up-to-date, uncomplicated and charming. The setting was a High Discount home – a sanctuary and showcase for treasured pieces and a place to relax in, away from the everyday mundane. Guests enjoyed dishes such as fig carpaccio and date and pecorino tarte tartin prepared by Johnny Hamman and Marius Uys of Slippery Spoon, while enjoying sparkling wine and rose cordial.
Breakfast was served on a table set with our autumn/winter palette and textures, including the latest Pret-o-Pot homeware, which added to the warm, homely setting. The décor –indulgent floral arrangements offset by High Discount’s autumn/winter colours by Alwijn Burger, also known as Blomboy. Alwijn enhanced the feeling of a winter hideaway with large dressers and armoires displaying our new range of homeware as well as bath and body products. The clothing of course formed an integral part of the setting as models showed our garments in "shop windows" set against thematic installations with seasonal flowers.
We introduced a range of beautiful fabrics such as cashmere and silk, with styles including pleats, lace, quilting and embroidery. Our range was put together with comfort in mind with our trademark neutrals being brought to life with painterly splashes of yellow and cherry, dreamy blues and vibrant green. In addition to the easy-wearing pieces the label was built on, the High Discount woman can expect reversible down puffer jackets and oversized waterfall coats made from Tencel - a sustainable fabric to wear over pretty pleated skirts and striped shift dresses.
Those who love our timeless designs won't be disappointed either as the collection includes trans-seasonal staples such as trench coats, parka jackets, a denim shirt dress, a denim jacket, skinnies and the classic white shirt.
Footwear, without sacrificing their feminine appeal, has added loafers and sneakers with metallic detailing to their range. Both of which are a fashionable, comfortable match for their oversized, chunky knit dresses and pleated skirts. Ankle boots come in two covetable options, versatile suede and pointy toed Chelsea boots. The new accessories were created with a strong focus on detail. Tassels, interesting fabrics and fringes bring them to life. Blanket scarves, felt fedoras and beanies make bundling up a stylish affair. Leather adds an extra element of luxury to the handbags, all of which come with a made-in-South Africa tag.
Sophistication and simplicity form the basis of the new range of homeware, which were also given a reboot with pops of colour such as red and blue Wonki Ware that will complement our gorgeous grey range. Laguiole, our range of bone-handle cutlery, will be refreshed with more colours in addition to the popular neutrals already in store as well as the introduction of a carving knife and fork, perfect for winter roasts. Other items to look out for are the new crockery styles such as skinny utensils, ramekins and salad bowls, as well as woven South African tableware. All items have been carefully selected to live in harmony even when mixing and matching.
Treat yourself this winter.
